Bangkok International Leather Fair 2000
At Queen Sirikit National Convention Center
October 23, 2000 at 10.00 a.m.

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

It is indeed a great honor and a privilege for me to preside over the Bangkok International Leather Fair 2000, here today.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to all of our foreign visitors as well as our friends from the media. It is very heartening to know that an increased number of exhibitors have joined the fair this year, which demonstrates the efforts and determination of the industry to raise its competitiveness and standards in the global market. The development of this industry involves the creation and development of our own product identity and brandname, increased use of local raw materials and emphasis on design and style.

Our ability to offer fast and efficient production of a variety of leather goods at limited quantity enables us to serve the needs of the world market. This of course, has made Thai leather goods very attractive to importers from such markets as the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. If our Thai manufacturers continue to develop their products and manufacturing process, I am sure that we will see a more stable and successful Thai leather industry in the future.

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

On this very auspicious occasion, it gives me great pleasure to officially open the Bangkok International Leather Fair 2000.

I wish you all an enjoyable experience, much success and look forward to welcoming you back again next year.

 Thank you.
